Over the years, Creare’s development team and I have been evolving a generic .htaccess file that we use as a boilerplate for most WordPress sites. We’ve recently added WP-htaccess to GitHub so that we can continue to expand, develop and share the file.
Here’s the very latest version of our WordPress .htaccess file, which is dynamically pulled from GitHub. The entire file should paste straight over your entire existing .htaccess file. However if your WordPress directory is not installed on the root of your domain, you will need to adjust the rewrite paths located within the ‘# BEGIN WordPress’ area.
Please help contribute to WP-htaccess by forking it over on GitHub.
